NIOSH Report on assessing postural stress to prevent MSDs available
The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the Canadian Centre of Research Expertise for the Prevention of Musculoskeletal Disorders have jointly released a new report titled “Observation-Based Posture Assessment: Review of Current Practice and Recommendations for Improvement.” The report leads ergonomic and health and safety practitioners through observational postural stress assessments to reduce musculoskeletal disorders in the workplace. Comments on rule change for tracking workplace injuries and illnesses extended
The proposal, published on Nov. 8, 2013, would amend the agency’s recordkeeping regulation to add requirements for the electronic submission of injury and illness information. OSHA will continue to consider comments on the rule change until October 14, 2014. Individuals interested in submitting comments may do so electronically at http://www.regulations.gov.
