Big changes are being discussed within the Obama administration and Congress to support OSHA in labor protection and in compliance regulations. Look for upcoming legislation to encourage employers to be compliant within ergonomics, with a potential new rule focusing on repetitive injuries. Other changes coming to OSHA include a new department head (David Michaels has been nominated), tougher enforcement and fines for repeat violators, and better protection for “whistle blowers.”
