Crane operator certification compliance extended to Nov. 10, 2017

OSHA has extended the compliance date for crane operator certification by 3 years to Nov. 10, 2017. The standard, issued on Aug. 9, 2010, requires crane and derrick operators to meet or obtain one of four certification options in or to be qualified for work on construction sites. OSHA decided to extend the compliance deadline due to concerns raised at several public meetings on the issue.

OSHA held three stakeholder meetings on operator certification/qualification issues in April 2013 and posted detailed notes of the meetings at http://www.osha.gov/cranes-derricks/stakeholders.html.
